Having spiritual grit is critical in today’s world. It is our choice whether or not we remain true to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The actions we take each day will either bring us closer to Jesus Christ or further from Him.
So, when Jesus taught his disciples to be perfect, he meant something completely different than what we in the world now might imagine. He didn’t expect us to never make a mistake. He didn’t expect us to speak, act, and be the finished product He helped designed us to be----YET.
If you are feeling lost in the wilderness, or like you are wandering from place to place with no real purpose, I challenge you to ask the Lord not only what He would have you learn—but to really look inward to see who he would have you BECOME.
When depression or doubt or demons have tried to grab ahold of us, the divine pattern of reflecting, recording, and remembering can help bring us back-back to the loving arms of an amazing Father in Heaven and a powerful Jesus Christ.
As we humble ourselves and look towards God for guidance, we can receive blessings beyond what we could have imagined for ourselves. Take the time to self-reflect and do something about it today!
Forgiving others is hard, but forgiving ourselves is even harder. We hold on to our imperfections and don't want to let go. This is not of God. God wants us to feel the liberating freedom of being regret and guilt free... Healing is a process, but as we reach out for help from our loving Heavenly Father and older brother Jesus Christ, it's not only possible, but liberating.
Prayer is how we communicate with God and we can never forget that. The scriptures teach that "If ye would hearken unto the Spirit which teacheth a man to pray, ye would know that ye must pray; for the evil spirit teacheth not a man to pray, but teacheth him that he must not pray" (2 Nephi 32:8). Prayer is from God and anything that teaches otherwise is not.
As I apologized once again and hung up the phone, I experienced a totally unexpected swell of warmth and peace. My head was downcast and regretful; my heart was calm and joyful. I knew I had done the right thing. I had borne my testimony that Sundays were special days in our family, and that didn’t change because we were trying to sell our house.
God loves us. If He was willing to allow His Son to redeem us with His blood, He wouldn’t disregard that sacrifice by leaving us without direction back to Him. It makes perfect sense that our loving Heavenly Father would give us modern-day prophets to guide us through this mortal journey.
Church has not, nor is not always the peaceful joyful experience I would like it to be. And it's almost never easy to get there. But besides the wiggling, poking and sometimes really ornery behavior, there's the deeper purpose. And it's worth it.
I don't think it's always easy for us to choose happiness, but I DO think that we can try just a little harder to be just a little better about choosing to look for the good. It's out there. Heavenly Father wants us to be happy, and His gifts are in abundance. Especially this Christmas season, I challenge all of us to look at our lives with a softer lens and remember to choose gratitude, choose happiness, and choose love.
When we feel a particle of belief, even in the smallest form, it is like a mustard seed. Sometimes, small is all we can do… maybe just believing that there is something out in the universe greater than ourselves.
Heavenly Father loves His daughters. He needs each of our unique talents and gifts. We will never know the scope of our reach, just as we can never truly comprehend the scope of His love for us in this life.
God has been clear from the beginning that he is unchangeable and does not turn a blind eye to sin. We, as members of the church, need to hold fast to those things we have already known to be true.
