Jennie Byers has a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from ASU which she acquired the same year she became a grandma. She is Mom to seven, Mimi to three and “Jenster” to her amazingly patient, partner-in-crime husband of 31 years. Jennie is a transplant from Oregon who spent her first two years living in Arizona wondering how a nice girl like her ended up in a place like that! When she’s not providing therapy to her clients (who appreciate her knowledge) or support to family and friends (who sometimes think she doesn’t know what she’s talking about), you’ll find her FaceTiming the grandkids, playing her grand piano, dancing when nobody’s looking, reading a book for book club or cuddling with her hubby on the couch watching Netflix.
I am finally old enough (and maybe wise enough, occasionally…when all the planets align and there’s a blue moon) to decide what voice I listen to between the walls of my own head. I am going to listen to the one who speaks truth.
God’s mercy comes in the darkest of times, it’s golden light filling the shadows and warming my soul.
Satan tries to persuade me that the messy choices my loved ones make are BAD, but he is JUST PLAIN WRONG. Loving my children as they exercise their agency is not bad, it is Christlike. Continuing to share my testimony in ways the spirit prompts me to is empowering. Giving them a soft place to fall is what my Jesus does for me.
