All in Faith
Don’t despair when you feel yourself doubting. There’s no need to fear. You have the power to change your doubts into questions by seeking answers from the One who is the source of all truth.
It’s ok to be sad and hopeful and faithful all at the same time. There is nothing wrong with you.
Heavenly Father speaks to us through the Holy Ghost. His voice is soft and gentle. It is not preceded by megaphones and handwritten posters. You will not see His message in a news ticker at the bottom of your TV screen. How the Holy Ghost speaks to us is individual for everyone. So, it is up to us to figure out just how we hear the Holy Ghost.
Having spiritual grit is critical in today’s world. It is our choice whether or not we remain true to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The actions we take each day will either bring us closer to Jesus Christ or further from Him.
Believing, or having faith, is a cardinal principle of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We must have faith that following the commandments of God will bring us closer to His presence. We must have faith that His gospel is true. We must have faith in Him to be saved by Him.
In life, we often fail. We mess up. We make mistakes. And frequently we are hard on ourselves because of that. But just because we fail, doesn’t mean we are failures. And just because we make mistakes, doesn’t mean we are lost.
I feel that the most development, insight, and empowerment in my life has come from being in the crisis of my faith being deconstructed and evaluated, and then chosen again, bit by bit. I would not have imagined or recognized myself here had I seen where I would be sent, but I am so grateful that this road is one with more mercies than I would have imagined.
I choose to stay because I feel my Savior near in the questioning and grappling. I feel Him urging me deeper: "let the questions fuel the fire to know more. To understand God's plan better." It's a process. A layering of line upon line, precept on precept. Seeming dissonance sometimes resolves unexpectedly, but sometimes it lingers, a question without a clear answer.
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
There is no way to avoid trials and difficult circumstances in life. The problem begins to arise when we are constantly thinking and remembering negative experiences, while ignoring and missing out on the good happening around us. The joy we could experience in this life can be clouded and hidden by our mind refusing to let go of the darkness it’s seen.
I want to be ALL IN. I want to pitch my tent near the temple, and facing the temple. I want my heart fixed on the Lord and the covenants I have made with Him in His holy house. I want to leave the enticements of the world far behind me…without ever longingly looking back.
I can choose to focus on the road, the major flaw in an otherwise quite perfect setup. Or I can pause and rest in His mercies.
He has felt our pain. He weeps with us. If we allow him, He can ease our burden. When we are weak, he can strengthen us. When we are broken, He can mend us. When we are sick, He can heal us. When we are half, He can make us whole. When there is a storm, He promises calm, so how can we doubt?
When depression or doubt or demons have tried to grab ahold of us, the divine pattern of reflecting, recording, and remembering can help bring us back-back to the loving arms of an amazing Father in Heaven and a powerful Jesus Christ.
As we humble ourselves and look towards God for guidance, we can receive blessings beyond what we could have imagined for ourselves. Take the time to self-reflect and do something about it today!
As morning dawned, not only did the SUN arise and fill the world with light, but the SON also arose, bringing a more permanent and personal light into the world. His light reaches shadows we think of as too dark to see. His light warms our soul where there is coldness. His light carries the hope of better things to come. His light never ends and is always there for us.
The truth that mental illness is hiding, is that YOU are an eternal child of a Heavenly Father who loves YOU infinitely. The truth is that Jesus Christ did suffer for YOU and through His grace, YOU can overcome. The truth is that YOU are worth saving. The truth is that YOU are needed.
I KNOW Heavenly Father also KNOWS you. I know He loves you. I know that He knows your struggles…even the petty ones. I know that He knows how to alleviate even your heaviest burdens. I know that He desires to help and bless you on your way back home, and I know that He WILL…if you will HEAR HIM.
Joy is deeper than pleasure or even happiness. It is lasting. It is a knowledge and hope and assurance that there is a God who knows what He’s doing.
Our dear Savior suffered in Gethsemane and on Calvary so you and I wouldn’t have to carry around heavy burdens. And He suffered not JUST for our sins, but for our sorrows and pains also. Everything I have packed into that theoretical brick of mine – He suffered for that.
